The smallest of the corydoras, Pygmy Corys originally come from Amazon and Napo rivers. In the wild, these tiny fish live in shoals of hundreds to thousands. So it's best to keep them in a group. We recommended a minimum of 8 to make them feel comfortable and display natural behaviors. These fish spend most of their time sifting through the substrate and exploring but also spend a significant amount of time swimming through the water column and occasionally darting up to the surface for a gulp of air. With their small size and docile, curious nature they make great tankmates with almost all other small peaceful fish and invertebrate.
