About Moss and Minnows

Like many great adventures, ours started with a single aquarium.

When our son Logan was a teenager, he was gifted a small group of guppies from a neighbor. We found a used 10-gallon aquarium, filled it with excitement, and quickly discovered that successful fishkeeping involved much more than simply adding water and fish. As Logan immersed himself in learning about the hobby, our family discovered the importance of creating healthy, balanced environments where fish could truly thrive. While Logan was learning, Mom and Dad were supporting him, and discovering there was far more to freshwater aquariums than they had ever imagined.

Before long, our attention turned to Neocaridina cherry shrimp and live aquatic plants. Watching shrimp flourish, breed, and become an active part of a healthy planted aquarium was incredibly rewarding. What began as one small tank soon became four, and our appreciation for the beauty and complexity of freshwater ecosystems continued to grow.

As Logan gained experience working at a local fish store, his knowledge and passion expanded even further. Along the way, he developed a special love for nano fish. He started with a group of Chili Rasboras. They arrived pale and timid, but after settling into a carefully planted aquarium, they gradually transformed into the brilliant ruby-red fish we still enjoy today, four years later.

Our journey hasn't always been easy. We've experienced the same challenges many aquarists face, and some none will face - including the unforgettable adventure of moving multiple aquariums across the country. Every success, setback, and lesson has helped shape the way we care for our fish and the way we serve our customers.
